Created as we grew out from the darkness of the pandemic. I was awake one winter night imagining this painting, the tunnel an invitation to re-enter nature, to remember our part with this Earth and ourselves as a part of nature. That remembering our relationship could to be honored and celebrated in a deep garland of flowers. The flowers of the spring in 2020 had soothed my heart and I had fully and expansively painted them for many months whilst simultaneously painting tunnels of light through forests. This was the conjoint of these two meditations.
In the artwork, blooming out of the darkness light, mirroring the resilience and beauty of life emerging from periods of destruction. Each flower holds a story of renewal. The painted tunnels of light signify hope for me, through the shadows, and an understanding of our connection to Earth.
As viewers engage with this work, they are invited to reflect on their own experiences during these transformative times. The garland serves not only as a celebration of nature but also as a reminder of our intertwined fates, urging a collective honoring of the present and perhaps a commitment to nurturing our relationship with Earth moving forward.
